Organisation

United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY)

The UN Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) is the United Nations General Assembly‑mandated mechanism that enables children and young people to meaningfully participate in UN processes. Established in 1992 through Agenda 21, it serves as a global, self‑organized space that connects young people with the UN system and supports their engagement across sustainable development, human rights, peace and security, and humanitarian action. MGCY works through policy advocacy, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and youth‑led action to ensure that young people’s voices, priorities, and expertise shape international decision‑making.
