Powering Partnerships: European Cooperation on Cleantech Export Promotion
As the global race for clean technology markets accelerates, both EU Member States and the Commission are developing specific instruments to support cleantech companies abroad. While certain countries strategically leverage their cleantech sectors to position themselves as the drivers of the global energy transition and to create dependencies, European efforts often remain fragmented, limiting Europe's collective impact and visibility. At the same time, partner countries are looking for reliable and mutually beneficial partnerships to advance their own clean technology transitions.
This roundtable, hosted by the German Federal Foreign Office in the German Pavilion, brings together representatives from European governments, companies, the EU Special Coordinator for the Global Clean Transition within the European Commission and India as a partner country to discuss how international cleantech cooperation can create greater value on both sides. The discussion will explore what partner countries need from the EU and how European instruments and expertise can be streamlined to better respond to these needs.
Building on this exchange, the session will explore how the EU can present a more coherent offer to partner countries: How can Member States and the EU Commission better coordinate instruments and pool expertise? And how can European support create genuine win-win outcomes, supporting European cleantech companies while contributing to partner countries’ clean technology ambitions and economic development?
